This is NOT your typical choral concert! The concert’s title is “With a Little Help from my Friends of Harmony”— a nod to the Beatles and our classic rock era theme featuring hits & sing alongs from the Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys, Billy Joel, and other favorites from the 60s-70s. The Friends of Harmony Barbershop Chorus, one of Western New York’s premier co-ed vocal ensembles will present a selection of classic barbershop favorites and contemporary arrangements, showcasing the power and warmth of close four-part harmony performed by singers from across the region.
Headlining the concert are special guests are “The Newfangled Four”, one of the most popular and entertaining vocal quartets in the barbershop world today. Hailing from the Los Angeles area, these four young men have built an international following thanks to their blend of impeccable harmony and quick-witted comedy. Parody songs they do are It's a Small World After All, Banana Phone, and Nursery Rhyme Medley.
Their popular online performances have earned them millions of views— if you’ve seen Barbershop on the internet, chances are it was these guys. Known for their razor-sharp timing and innovative arrangements, The Newfangled Four consistently rank among the top barbershop quartets in the world and have become fan favorites at major competitions and conventions. The Newfangled Four has appeared on Buzzfeed, Hallmark’s “Home and Family show,” the new “Gong Show,” “The CW Christmas Carolers Challenge,” and has recorded tracks for the Lifetime Movie Network.
Concertgoers can expect a lively performance that combines musical excellence with laugh-out-loud moments. While dedicated barbershop fans will delight in the craftsmanship and precision of the genre, The Newfangled Four’s comedic style and broad musical appeal make the show accessible and entertaining for anyone — even those experiencing barbershop harmony for the first time.
