COVID-19 hospitalization numbers in NYS lowest since March

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in New York State has dropped to 646 — its lowest number since March 18.

According to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the number of patients in intensive care units was 149, the lowest since March 16. There were 10 deaths in the state from Covid-19 Friday, including one person in Erie County.

The total number of deaths in New York to date is 25,103.

Cuomo said "it's essential that we stay vigilant by social distancing, wearing masks and washing our hands as this pandemic is far from over."

Nick Lippa leads our Arts & Culture Coverage, and is also the lead reporter for the station's Mental Health Initiative, profiling the struggles and triumphs of those who battle mental health issues and the related stigma that can come from it.
