Niagara Falls fire is fatal for 52-year-old man

The body of a 52-year-old man has been recovered from an overnight fire in Niagara Falls.

An alarm was sounded at around 11:45 p.m. Monday at a home at 1815 Niagara Street. Fire officials said a fire was in a very advanced stage when it was reported.

The flames spread to a neighboring home and an adjacent mixed-used building. All three structures are now scheduled for emergency demolition.

An investigation into a cause is underway. Some nearby residents said the fire may have been sparked by fireworks.
