Women's History Month was celebrated in the lobby of Buffalo's City Hall Monday. This year's national theme is ‘Women fighting against all forms of discrimination against women’.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown honored New York State Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul for her fight to empower women.
Hochul said the battle continues.
“And whether it is hiring qualified women, supporting those who run for office – and also standing up against sexual harassment once and for all, saying women should not be the subjected to degradation, discrimination or harassment because of the gender in the workplace,” Hochul declared.
Hochul said they must help the next generation in supporting women's rights across the state.
“It’s important that you have leaders at the top – who understand that bringing different voices to the table is not to be feared or a threat, but to be welcomed and embraced,” remarked Hochul.
Also honored Monday was Buffalo broadcast producer and writer Jackie Albarella, and a committee of more than 20 women who created the Radical Women's Night Out, an event to be held April 19th at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery featuring 'Black Radical Women' from 1965 to 1985.
