A sold out crowd was on hand at the North Park Theater Saturday night for the Buffalo premiere of the movie "Marshall."
The film portrays the early career of the first African American Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. The setting is 1930s Connecticut where Marshall defended a black chauffeur accused of assaulting a white socialite. Producer Jonathan Sanger, who attended the North Park premiere, said Buffalo was chosen for filming because its historic architecture was what he was looking for.
"The architecture here is pretty amazing," Sanger said. "It goes back to the 1920s and '30s. It was an amazing opportunity for us."
Charles Wolsky was first in line for Saturday's premiere. A car he owns -- a 1937 Buick Century -- was used in the film. Wolsky said he was in contact with a representative after sending in some photos of his car.

"He said the car is beautiful," Wolsky said. "He said I think we'll have your car in our movie."
WNED-WBFO partnered with the Buffalo International Film Festival in presenting Saturday night's red-carpet event at the historic North Park.
"Marshall" opens nationwide next weekend.
