Some state lawmakers marked International Day of People with Disabilities on Thursday by calling attention to issues faced by the community.

State Senator Patrick Gallivan said it's important for Western New Yorkers to speak up and support programs for people with disabilities. He's calling for more focus "in advance of next year's budget to ensure, not only are there not more cuts like there have been in the past, but to try to make sure things are properly funded."
Gallivan says the Cuomo Administration in recent years cut $120 million for programs restored by the legislature.
People Inc. President and CEO Rhonda Frederick said despite the Americans with Disabilities Act, people with developmental disabilities still have a long way to go.
