Town of Tonawanda Police are investigating a fatal boating accident that claimed the life of a 16-year-old Lockport girl. The accident occurred early Thursday morning on Ellicott Creek. Police say the girl apparently stood up while the boat was moving and struck her head on a bridge abutment. She was one of three people in the boat at the time.
The girl's name has not been released. Next of kin have been notified. An investigation is underway.
A portion of Ellicott Creek Road between Woodstock and Thistle avenues was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.
