The dawning of March brings with it thoughts of spring. However, with spring comes flooding in Western New York. This year's heavy snow pack could create unprecedented conditions once the thaw begins, but National Weather Service meteorologist Aaron Reynolds says flooding is not an immediate concern.
"Temperatures aren't going to be warm enough and we're not going to have enough liquid precipitation. So, no flooding at this point. As far as looking out long term, by the weekend we start to climb back into the low 30s again, possibly near freezing again by Saturday and possibly Sunday of the following week," said Reynolds.
The Winter Storm Watch has been lifted, but an inch of snow is still possible in many areas in Western New York Sunday into Monday.
Reynolds states that after a record-setting February, the weather for March appears that it will be rather normal.
