An increase in gun violence and crime in Niagara Falls triggered the launch of "saturation patrols" on Friday night. Niagara Falls Police were joined by the State Police, the Niagara County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies in canvassing the streets in search of the criminal element. Shortly after the patrols began, a drug bust led to the arrest of 3 people.

Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster applauded the effort.

Police officials state that other saturation patrols will be implemented through the summer.
