Charges pending against Buffalo teen after school lockdown

Buffalo Public Schools

Buffalo Police have taken a 16-year-old male student into custody with charges pending, following a verbal threat against the International Preparatory School #198 at Grover Cleveland.

The school was placed on lockdown at 2:37 pm. Monday and administrators called 911.

Buffalo Police conducted an investigation and search, as the verbal threat included the claim of a weapon. Police gave the all-clear at 3:15 p.m. Some buses were delayed by about 15 minutes, but then normal schedules and dismissal times resumed.

Police are continuing their investigation, and the Buffalo School District is following protocol and said it will pursue further action against the student involved.
