If you find a present on your doorstep, it may be from the University at Buffalo. “Doorhanger” kits containing safety reminders, tips on how to be a good neighbor and other useful information will be distributed to about 1,900 homes surrounding the UB South Campus from 2:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday.
Students, faculty, staff and neighborhood volunteers will join together for the annual effort, part of UB’s continuing efforts to encourage community building.
“We are all responsible for keeping the community safe, clean and vibrant,” said Daniel Ryan, director of Off-Campus Student Services at UB. “Operation Doorhanger is one way UB is encouraging students and lifelong residents to stay safe and to work together for the benefit of all.”
The kits are bags that will be hung on door handles on Winspear, Northrup, Heath, Englewood and Merrimac. They include safety and courtesy tips that encourage students to “get to know your neighbors", “keep the noise down, especially late at night,” “keep your yard clean” and “don’t travel alone, particularly at night.”
