The Buffalo school district is parting ways with two top administrators who do not have the proper state certifications to carry out their duties.  There was talk of keeping Faith Alexander and Yamilette Williams as interns while they pursued their certifications.  But in the end, Board of Education President Barbara Nevergold said the board opted Wednesday night to terminate the two.

"We came to the conclusion the lack of certification did not allow them to perform all of the duties of their respective jobs," Nevergold said.  "It was going to be difficult for us to sustain their employment."

The board voted unanimously on the termination following a closed-door executive session.

Schools Superintendent Pamela Brown said she has instituted changes to make sure this does not happen again.

Alexander was chief of school leadership and Williams was chief of curriculum, assessment and instruction.

Brown emphasized the dismissal of the two administrators was not based on their job performance.
