Hollywood coming to Ralph Wilson Stadium

WBFO News photo by Eileen Buckley

Hollywood will coming to Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.  This Sunday Universal Pictures will conduct a casting call for movie extras and conduct filming at the stadium at the end of this month.

Producers will be interviewing potential extras at the Wilson Stadium Fieldhouse Sunday, May 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Despite losing out on the recent filming of "Draft Day", this filming should boost the community's spirits.

"The Buffalo Bills are hoping to get their fans out to the Ralph this Sunday from 10 to 4, to cast with Universial Pictures for extras for a movie that will be shooting," said Tim Clark, commissioner, Buffalo  Niagara Film Comission.

Clark is excited Universal has decided to use the Bills stadium and film a football game scene. They are looking for extras and beginning filming on May 28th in the overnight hours.

"Well there's a variety of roles, some speaking some non-speaking. Some people would be in the stands, others would be adjacent to he field, so there is a variety of things are they're looking for," said Clark.

According to the Buffalo News the movie is "The Best Man Holiday".  But Clark says he can't reveal the name of the movie.  However, Clark did describe it as the real thing -- similar to the filming of the "Amazing Spider-Man 2" now underway in Rochester.

"This one is a really big picture and I think there is going to be a lot of celebrities there, the stars there. So that actually adds an additional level of attraction, I think, to that," said Clark.

But Clark insists the Buffalo region will be getting another chance for a big movie.  He says it will happen sometime this summer.

"A lot of medium size pictures are looking at Buffalo and Upstate New York to shoot," noted Clark.

Clark could not provide the exact location, date or movie name.  He said it will be "somewhere in Western New York" and "it's ready to go."
