Celebrate Reading Rainbow with BTPM!

Honor the Iconic Series at Free Reading Rainbow Fun Day

Get ready to have some “Reading Rainbow” fun at a free event for children and families on Saturday, March 2 at Buffalo Toronto Public Media! The classic “Reading Rainbow” series, co-created by BPTM and launched in 1983, became the most-watched PBS television show in the classroom. Today, it offers nostalgia but also provides high-quality curriculum for children in Grades K-5. Over the last year, resources have been updated and the stories from 60 episodes are free to enjoy on the Reading Rainbow YouTube channel and PBS LearningMedia.

On Saturday, March 2, “Buffalo Toronto Public Media is inviting families to come by our studios and party! Watch six of the beloved books from the groundbreaking series including “Little Nino's Pizzeria,” “The Patchwork Quilt,” and “Rechenka's Eggs” while you enjoy popcorn and Reading Rainbow cookies! Experience the original, accompanying make-and-take activities based on the featured books. Get your face painted and take a chance at winning one of our free giveaways such as a gift package complete with the “Reading Rainbow” featured books.

“We are excited about the 40th anniversary of this classic series and wanted to share that with families and kids of this generation.,” said Beth Fronckowiak, Director of Learning & Engagement at Buffalo Toronto Public Media. “All of the original, high-quality, curriculum content is still relevant today, proving what a special resource Reading Rainbow is.”

Join in on the fun on Saturday, March 2 from 10 am to 1 pm at BTPM Studios, 140 Lower Terrace, Downtown Buffalo. Free parking is available in our parking lot off Charles Street. RSVP at wned.org/events. Please note that a ticket is required for all family members ages 3 and up. Don’t miss out, reserve your spot today!
