Two hours before the kickoff of today's preseason game against the New York Giants, the Buffalo Bills announced they have released running back Karlos Williams. An hour later, they announced that defensive tackle Marcel Dareus is entering a rehabilitation facility.Williams was facing a suspension for the first four games of the regular season for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. He has only been working out with the team recently because he showed up overweight and out of shape for both organized team activities in the spring and training camp.

Dareus was also facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He stated previously that it was the result of missing a drug test as opposed to failing one. The team released this statement from Dareus:

“After careful consideration of recent events within my life, I have made the decision to enter a rehabilitation facility. I feel this is the best decision for me, my family and my teammates as I move forward with my career. I appreciate the support of my teammates and the Bills organization through this process.”
