It has been nearly two years to the day since the New Stadium Working Group met for the first time. It was highly touted following the death of former Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson as a way of keeping the team in Buffalo. But Bills President Russ Brandon was quoted recently saying the group has been suspended. That has Erie County Legislator Ted Morton looking for answers.
"With the comments of some people in the NFL about the potential need for a new stadium, the lead time these things need to be planned and worked out and, obviously with the NFL there are the Pegulas, the Bills, New York State, there are so many moving parts. To have this group disbanded, it just doesn't make sense at all."
The New Stadium Working Group was required in 2012 under the Bills' 10-year lease with Erie County for Ralph Wilson Stadium. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz declined to comment.
