The Democratic Push To Tax The Rich More Is 40 Years In The Making
Democrats will try the same budgetary process from four decades ago when first-year President Ronald Reagan used reconciliation to achieve his "revolution" in federal fiscal policy.
The Scoreboard - October 28th
On Monday's Scoreboard, we feature break downs of a ‘Won Buffalo’ weekend, as the Sabres won their third straight and the Bills threaded the needle in Seattle. Plus, we go into why the World Series is heading East at 2-0 Dodgers. And finally, we discuss an unprecedented move in local high school football playoffs going down this week.

Theater Talk: Anthony recommends an audio play by Matthew Crehan Higgins (free, link below) while Peter learns how to avoid prison with ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, and THE BREAK SONG. And HAMILTON is back!
This weekend on Theater Talk, Peter and Anthony talk about a new audio play, free, titled "Conversations With Eligible Voters In Pennsylvania" by Matthew Crehan Higgins. It was a weekend avoiding prison for Peter, finally catching up with ARSENIC AND OLD LACE at Lancaster Opera House, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION at Desiderio's Dinner Theater, and THE BREAK SONG, a new play by Buffalo's Mark Humphrey, at The Compass Performing Arts Factory, 545 Elmwood . Speaking of prison, next week we'll talk about BONNIE AND CLYDE, Bellissima Production's show on stage at The Allendale (Theater of Youth). And HAMILTON opened a two-week run at Shea's, the third tour to come to Buffalo. For 31 years (as of November 2023), Theater Talk has been appointment listening on WBFO, featuring the insights of theater critic and historian Anthony Chase, who joins Peter Hall for a five-minute weekly broadcast at 6:45 and 8:45 Friday mornings on 88.7 WBFO with a podcast available on wbfo.org. NOTE: Theater listings are included with the podcast. As part of BTPM (Buffalo Toronto Public Media), their beat is primarily Buffalo theater, but Broadway, The Shaw Festival, The Stratford Festival, and Chautauqua are covered as are other relevant art forms, including ballet and opera.

The Race To 270: A Swing State Scorecard
NPR.org's new interactive scorecard suggests that President Obama may have a somewhat easier path to 270 electoral votes than Mitt Romney, needing to win fewer states. But that's not a given. As you play, you'll be able to come up with plenty of combinations that would get Romney over the top.
Theater Talk: 2nd Gen's Broadway Bucket List "best ever," so much talent in Buffalo; see some at MusicalFare's JESUS CHRIST, SUPERSTAR at Shea's 710 through 4/19; BUA's LAUGHING TROLL CAFE opens next week with intriguing (and timely) plot. Many openings next week, see listings.
This week on Theater Talk, Anthony and Peter talk about the high quality of 2nd Gen's "Broadway Bucket List," a showcase for the large and deep pool of Buffalo talent. MusicalFare's JESUS CHRIST, SUPERSTAR (written when Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber was only 22!) is running at Shea's 710. Next week, BUA's LAUGHING TROLL CAFE has a plot possibly? inspired by J.K. Rowling's controversy with the trans community. Please see the listings.PLEASE SEE LISTINGS.Click through, then scroll to see complete listings of what's on stage! Also, visit theatertalkbuffalo.com to read Anthony's reviews, especially his latest on the play SHELTERED.For over 30 years, Theater Talk has been appointment listening on WBFO, featuring the insights of theater critic and historian, Anthony Chase. Chase co-hosted Theater Talk with Buffalo Broadcast Hall of Famer Jim Santella for many years. These days, it's Peter Hall. With more than 20 active producing theater companies in Buffalo alone, not to mention Shea’s Performing Arts Center and the Shaw Festival at nearby Niagara-on-the-Lake, Chase and Hall keep their calendars full, trying to see and share their insights on as many shows as possible. But Theater Talk is anything but a dry community arts listing service. Instead, with affection, good humor, and just the occasional rant, the segment provides snapshot reviews, recommends local productions, analyzes the Western New York theater scene and occasionally looks at what's happening on Broadway and across the nation.Chase is the founder of the Artie Awards, which recognizes excellence in Western New York theater and raises money for AIDS charities.
