Buffalo, NY – Hall of Fame coach Marv Levy was hired Thursday as the Buffalo Bills' vice president of football operations.
Levy returns to the team he led to an unprecedented four straight Super Bowl appearances in the 1990s.
He becomes the NFL's oldest active front office executive but is referring to himself as "an 80-year-old rookie."
Levy takes over a struggling team that's coming off a 5-and-11 season and missed the playoffs for the sixth straight year.
The move comes a day after team owner Ralph Wilson fired president and general manager Tom Donahoe.
Wilson says he'll take over the president's post, while Levy says he'll handle the GM's duties and report directly to the owner who first hired him nearly 20 years ago.
