An attorney who previously served in roles under two former Buffalo Common Council members, including the one he is replacing, has been sworn in as the Council's new Delaware District representative.
Joel Feroleto interviewed with council members in a session prior to the body's regularly scheduled meeting. At the latter session, Feroleto was approved by a unanimous vote and immediately sworn in.
"I'm familiar with city government and how it operates," said Feroleto, whose experience also includes work under two former state senators.
Feroleto was the lone candidate interviewed for the Delaware District and replaces his own cousin, Michael LoCurto, who resigned the seat to take a job as deputy commissioner for environment and planning with Erie County.
One other seat remains open, representing the Masten District. That was vacated by Demone Smith when he resigned to take a position leading the Buffalo Employment and Training Center. Three people want that position and will face off in a September 10 primary.
