Lieutenant-Governor candidate Kathy Hochul downplayed a New York Post report Monday that says Governor Andrew Cuomo might drop Hochul from minor party lines he's running on if she loses the September 9th Democratic primary.
Hochul marched in the annual Labor Day parade in South Buffalo. Before the parade began, Hochul described the Post report as "way over the top" and "false."
The problem for Cuomo is that if lieutenant-governor candidate Tim Wu wins the Democratic primary, the votes Cuomo gains on the minor lines in November's election -- where Hochul's name would still be on the ballot with his -- could not be added to the totals he receives with Wu on the Democratic line.
Wu is a Columbia University law professor. His campaign received a boost last week when he was endorsed by the New York Times.
Despite an endorsement of Wu by the Public Employees Federation, Hochul said she has always stood 100 percent with labor.
