Kryzan-Lee Key Local Race

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – The vast majority of incumbents seeking re-election to Congress or the State Legislature in Western New York are expected to win today. But there are a handful of competitive local races as well.

Perhaps the most competitive is the one for the 26th congressional district seat being vacated by Tom Reynolds. The race features two political newcomers -- Democrat Alice Kryzan and Republican Chris Lee. Republicans hold an enrollment edge in the district. But last week, the non-partisan Cook Political Report characterized the race as a toss up.

Michael Haselswerdt is a political scientist at Canisius College. He joined us on the phone to talk about this and other local races. Click the audio player above to hear Mark Scott's interview now or use your podcasting software to download it to your computer or iPod.
