New York Governor Kathy Hochul sits down with Blasdell locals at the Apollo Family Restaurant to discuss statewide affordability issues.

Affordability was the primary message from Governor Kathy Hochul when she met with local families Tuesday at Apollo Family Restaurant in Blasdell.

Among the efforts Hochul discussed with customers was New York’s child tax credit, which will provide a yearly credit to 1.6 million families of up to $1,000 for each child under four, and $500 for children between the ages of four to 16.

“There's people still in my hometown, my home community here that are struggling with the high cost of living," she said. "And that is why, since I became governor, I've laser-focused on making sure that we do everything we can to put money back in people's pockets.”

She also highlighted the importance of the Universal School Meal program, which requires New York districts in the federal school lunch and breakfast programs to reimburse meals for all students starting in September.
