Graduate assistants at the University at Buffalo who are pushing for a living stipend hope to bring their case to the UB Council Monday morning.
Members of the UB Living Stipend Movement say they were illegally barred from attending the Council's last meeting. But spokesman Willis McCumber says they'll be there once again to make their case to the Council that their stipends need to be increased.
"It's an open public meeting. We'll be there with about 100 people to voice our concerns and encourage them to take action on this issue," McCumber said.
McCumber says net stipends average about $15,000 a year with some under $8,000. He says UB ranks at the very bottom among public universities when it comes to paying graduate assistants.
