Mozee's Ultimate Family Daycare has been shut down and will not be reopening after a toddler was seriously injured Monday. The daycare, at 83 Glenwood Avenue in Buffalo, and it's ability to operate has been revoked by the New York State Office of Child and Family Services.
Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo says officers found a two-year-old child "unresponsive" at Mozee's about 3:20 p.m. Monday.
"First responders immediately took the baby to Women and Children's Hospital and the baby was rushed into surgery. The nature of the incident is that the child did suffer some type of head injury. Our investigators, at this point, believe that that injury occured while the child was at the daycare center," Rinaldo said.
The little girl, he says, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Police and Child and Family Services continue to investigate. Anybody with information about the case or Mozee's Ultimate Family Daycare is asked to contact the Buffalo Police confidential tipline at 847-2255.
Since January in Erie County the state has closed a total of four daycare centers. Four others are facing violations that could lead the state to revoke their license.
