National Grid delivery rate increase takes effect

WBFO News File Photo

Customers of National Grid will see their electricity rates going up, effective Sunday.

A 10.5 percent increase in electricity delivery rates will be phased in over three years. The average monthly bill will increase by $2.22 during the first year.

National Grid says delivery rates have been stable for more than a decade. The utility is pledging to invest more than $2.5 billion in upstate New York to make its network stronger, safer and more reliable.

The rate hike was approved by the State Public Service Commission last month.
