The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office reports the body of kayaker Dylan Lathrop has been found.
Numerous agencies have been searching for the 20-year-old South Dayton man since he disappeared Tuesday night. He had been kayaking in Lake Erie with three friends, when the group encountered high waves.
The Sheriff's Office says approximately 10 a.m. Thursday, divers from the New York State Police located the body in about 16 feet of water. It was about where Lathrop's kayak had overturned, near Sunset Bay Beach.
Recovery efforts had been hampered Wednesday by extremely poor visibility. However, Lathrop's kayak was found.
The other three friends went into the water as well, but were able to make it back to shore safely unassisted.
