Ryan seeks to end delays entering Canada

Chris Caya WBFO News

Elected officials on both sides of the border plan to discuss the ongoing delays travelers face entering Canada. State Assemblyman Sean Ryan says, the problem is that inspection booths are not properly staffed in Canada. Ryan says the backups are hurting the economies in Western New York and Southern Ontario.

"The long lines and long wait times prevent people from traveling to events on the other side of the border. And, of course, if you're a Canadian who spent the day in Western New York, you're going to think twice about doing that again if your return trip home had a two to three hour wait time attached to it," Ryan said.

Residents on Buffalo's West Side are also being exposed to more pollution from idling vehicles stuck on the Peace Bridge.

Ryan says he will be meeting with the Niagara region's Members of Parliament this week to discuss  the issue.
