A few thousand National Grid customers were without power early today after high winds and icy conditions dealt a blow to the Southern Tier overnight.
The National Weather Service says a High Wind Warning will remain in effect until 10am today for Southern Erie and Chautauqua Counties.
There is also a Wind Advisory in effect until 10am today for Cattaraugus and Wyoming Counties.
National Grid reports some 4,000 customers without power in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Wyoming Counties. As of 6:30am, the company's online site indicated crews were assessing the situation in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. National Grid expects power to return by 8am in Wyoming County.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Niagara and Orleans Counties until 10am today.
