Ted's Hot Dogs returns to its Buffalo roots

Chris Caya WBFO News

Ted's Hot Dogs is officially back in its hometown. The new downtown location of one of Buffalo's oldest fast-food establishments opened Monday morning on West Chippewa Street near Elmwood Avenue.

Ted's owner and president Thecly Ortolani says after a 17-year absence, she is proud to be back in the city.

"Because my grandfather started in the city and it's the people of Buffalo and our customers that have kept this business going for almost 90 years, I'm just feeling a lot gratitude today for those customers. I'm just so happy that we're back where everything started with my grandfather," Ortolani said.

Ted Liaros opened his first hot dog stand in 1927 when he paid $100 for a tool shed near the Peace Bridge.

Ted's now has nine locations in Western New York.
