The region's newest shovel ready site is officially open for business and the North Youngmann Commerce Center, just off I-290 in a barren area known as "the old mud flats," already has its first tenant.
Town of Tonawanda Deputy Supervisor Joe Emminger says a developer expressed interest within one week of the town's decision to move forward on the project.
"What makes...this site unique, in my opinion, is the location, proximity to the interstate highways, to Canada...we're minutes away from everything," Emminger said.
First Source, which will occupy a newly constructed 300,000 sq. ft. packaging and distribution facility, was so impressed, Emminger said, that the company is moving its Virginia headquarters and about 200 employees to Tonawanda.
