Flooding leaves more than $6 million damage in Chautauqua County

WBFO News File Photo/Chris Caya

The numbers are still being added up but officials in Chautauqua County say damage is in the millions from flooding that hit some two weeks ago.Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan says damage estimates to roads and bridges from the mid-July flood that occurred within the county totals slightly more than $6.3-million at this point.  In addition, Horrigan says there is an estimated $1-million damage to homes and the damages to commercial entities are still being tallied.  He notes they may fall short of the necessary numbers to be eligible for federal assistance but are looking for other methods of finding additional funding to help clean up and repair damages.
