Amherst Police are continuing to investigate a fire that severely injured a homeowner on Carriage Hill East. Reports indicate that a shed behind the house was engulfed in flames when rescuers arrived. A man was found on top of a covered swimming pool nearby where he apparently attempted to douse flames to his clothing. The man suffered severe burns and is being treated at ECMC.
The fire was contained to the shed, and the cause of the blaze remains unknown.
