Photos show damage to Corasanti's car

Photographs of Dr. James Corasanti's car show it was heavily damaged in the hit and run crash that killed Alix Rice in July 2011. Corasanti is being sued in State Supreme Court, in Buffalo, by Rice's parents. One of the attorneys for Rice's parents, Lawlor Quinlan, spent day three of the trial, Wednesday, questioning Amherst Police Sr. Investigator Kevin Murphy about the crash on Heim Road. The 18 year-old Rice was riding her longboard at night. But the jury was shown the bright green top that she was wearing. And Murphy described the road that night as "perfectly lit with no visibility issues." He also testified a photo shows - as Rice's longboard was run over - it gouged the pavement inside the bike lane.  According to measurements the investigator took at the scene, her body came to rest 167 feet from the point of impact. Murphy also testified about other photos that show the underside of Corasanti's car was damaged from front to rear by the longboard. And the tread of the car's right rear tire was punctured from riding over the board's metal axle. Murphy will be back on the stand when the trial resumes on Tuesday.
