Does Buffalo 'own winter?' Tourism group thinks so

Courtesy of Visit Buffalo Niagara Twitter Page

One glance at Visit Buffalo Niagara's website finds three simple words on the homepage: "Buffalo owns winter."

Visit Buffalo Niagara President and CEO Patrick Kaler says the group has embraced Buffalo's reputation for snow. The agency is sponsoring a social media winter photo contest. They're looking for the best of Buffalo this winter.

Contestants are asked to enter their photos on social media with the hashtag #WinterBUF.

Every Friday in January, Visit Buffalo Niagara will announce a winner on its social media pages. Winners will have their photo posted for the week on the marquee outside of the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Jay joined Buffalo Toronto Public Media in 2008 and has been the local host for NPR's "Morning Edition" ever since. In June 2022, he was named one of the co-hosts of BTPM's "What's Next."

A graduate of St. Mary's of the Lake School, St. Francis High School, and Buffalo State College, Jay has worked most of his professional career in Buffalo. Outside of public media, he continues in longstanding roles as the public address announcer for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League and as play-by-play voice of Canisius College basketball.
