A lengthy list of character credentials preceded the introduction of JaHarr S. Pridgen as the city’s newest judge. She takes over the seat recently vacated by E. Jeanette Ogden, who was elected to State Supreme Court.
Pridgen has spent part of her career working in the Erie County District Attorney’s Felony Trial Bureau. She points out that her work has both prepared her, and brought her in somewhat of a circle…
“I believe that my experience from working in the District Attorney’s office has definitely prepared me for this. As a matter of fact, when I first started my legal career, the first place that I started was Buffalo City Court,” said Pridgen.
Having been an attorney for only seven years, Pridgen brings an element of youth to the city court. But she sees it as an advantage…
“I’m very enthusiastic and I’m ready to hit the ground running,” Pridgen said.
Pridgen is the daughter-in-law of current Buffalo Common Council President, Reverend Darius Pridgen. Mayor Brown noted that he was seeking a candidate with a strong connection to the city, which he associated with Pridgen’s past work as a legislative aide for the Common Council’s University District.
