Residents in the Southtowns are waking up to as much as three feet of snow this morning. Lake effect snow hit hard and heavy overnight in places like Hamburg, West Seneca, Orchard Park, Lackawanna and Lancaster.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Tony Ansuini says two-to-three feet of snow fell in the Southtowns overnight, the City of Buffalo received between 3-and-5 inches and very little snow fell north of Buffalo.
Ansuini notes lake effect snow is nothing unusual this time of year, but what is unusual is the intensity and the amount that we are seeing.
Ansuini sys the heavy lake snow will continue until midday in the Southtowns, adding possibly another foot or more to snow totals before finally shifting south further into ski county.
Another Heavy Lake Effect Snow band is headed our way Wednesday night into Thursday, but Ansuini adds we'll get a break by this weekend and could see temperatures in the 50's by Monday.
