With snow in Western New York's forecast, the City of Buffalo showed off its snow-fighting fleet at the Broadway Garage Wednesday morning.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Byron joined the city's Public Works Commissioner Steve Stepniak to conduct the annual inspection of snow removal equipment.
The Mayor said the city has 75 pieces of equipment.
"Included in that 75 piece of equipment are eight new trucks that replace eight older vehicles. We have automated salt-spreaders on all of our trucks. We have GPS on all of our trucks. We have new blades that are more maneuverable on the eight new vehicles," said Mayor Brown in a WBFO interview.
The city also has a total of 11 tons of salt on hand. Normally in a winter season the city goes through about 42 tons of salt.
"We are ready for the winter conditions that are coming," noted Brown.

"Our drivers have gone through training, safety, other training on the new technology and equipment we have," stated Brown.
Last winter season Buffalo experienced a couple of blizzards, but the city never shutdown during those storms.
"We've been recognized nationally as one of the best communities for fighting snow, for dealing with snow in the nation. We've been called hard work and high tech," said Mayor Brown.
