Students and staff at the University at Buffalo marked Veterans Day with a flag-raising ceremony outside Alumni Arena. UB's veteran and military service members were also honored. Afterwards, Col. Kevin Rogers, inspector general of the 107th Airlift Wing at Niagara Falls, asked those in attendance,
"I want you to think about every day being Veterans Day. You certainly don't have to have ceremonies such as this everyday. Once a year is fine. But everyday is Veterans Day. If you see somebody in uniform, thank them for their service," said Rogers.
The UB Police and ROTC color guards, and the Thunder of the East Marching Band took part in the ceremony, which included the ringing of the commemorative bell at 11:11 a.m. to mark the end of World War I.
