The neighborhood around the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus continues its turn around.Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy joined local elected officials in cutting the ribbon Monday on one of 49 new townhomes developed by St. John Fruit Belt Community Development Corp.
Pastor Michael Chapman says residents are concerned that gentrification could force them out.
"Those people that were born and raised here...they want to stay here. So that's why these projects are low to moderate income," Chapman said.
The townhomes were built on 19 separate lots throughout the neighborhood. Chapman says St. John's future plans include developing single-family homes and retail space in the Fruit Belt.
