Residents in Cheektowaga are facing stricter rules governing the allowable length of their lawns. Officials in the town are urging the enforcement of an ordinance that deems grass must be lower than 6 inches. The guideline was changed last year from the state code that allows for grass up to 10 inches.
Cheektowaga leaders are claiming that they will not actively pursue violators unless complaints are filed.
Offenders could face fines of up to $250. Repeat offenders could find their lawns mowed by a contractor at the property owners expense.
