A series of calls originating with Buffalo's CodeRED emergency notification system are raising the ire of some participating residents. The system was established to provide notification of public safety issues, including fires, chemical spills and disasters, both natural and manmade. Another aspect of the service is the dissemination of public service and community announcements that are not related to emergencies. It is these robo calls that have annoyed a number of residents.
City officials are reaching out to the public to let them know that there is a means in the system for opting out of these general announcements.
