War veteran uses comedy as mental therapy

WBFO News photos by Eileen Buckley

Comics will be performing Friday night at the annual Lucy Festival in Jamestown. Three war veterans from The GIs of Comedy will be on stage. One is a Western New York native who founded the comedy troupe. WBFO's Eileen Buckley talked with Tom Tran about the formation of this comedic team.

Tran is a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant.  He was wounded and affected by the serving in combat in the Iraq war. When he returned to Western New York, he continued working in radio as a personality, but began plunging into comedy. Then he decided to move to Los Angeles.
