The FBI has released its annual crime report, and Buffalo is near the top ten in violent crime. The city came in 11th place among the major cities in the country, having registered 48 murders and 138 forcible rapes last year. Also calculated into the formula were robberies and aggravated assaults reported in 2012.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown disputes the negative connotation of the findings, claiming that crime rates in the city are falling and that efforts to reduce crime will continue.
