Dr. James Corasanti appears to be in the process of rebuilding his medical career. Kaleida Health has granted physician privileges to Corasanti so he can treat patients at their facilities.Kaleida spokesman Michael Hughes says Corasanti applied for privileges and he went through a full review process before they were granted.
Corasanti, a gastroenterologist, was convicted of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and served eight months of a one-year sentence at the Erie County Correctional Facility before he was released in April.
The jury that convicted him of misdemeanor DWI had acquitted him of several felony charges in the same trial.
The charges stem from a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of teenage skateboarder Alexandria Rice in July 8, 2011.
