The long-running effort to bring a Bass Pro outdoor store to Buffalo's waterfront ended in failure, but one of its top competitors is coming to Western New York.
Cabela's, which is based in Nebraska, will locate its first New York State store in the old Wegmans supermarket on Walden Avenue across from the Galleria. It is one of eleven new stores being announced by the company, which currently has 41 stores nationwide, and only three in the Northeast. Three more locations are in Canada. The Buffalo News reports that a formal announcement is expected to be made Monday afternoon at the Wegmans site in the Walden Village plaza.
