For many years, delayed passage of the budget was the norm in New York State. Now, Albany leaders are going to extremes to reach a spending agreement before the April 1 deadline. Buffalo Senator Tim Kennedy told WBFO News this morning that his chamber worked through the night to approve the budget.
"It's a great day in New York State that this budget passed."
Kennedy says the spending plan adds nearly $1 billion for school districts across the state. That includes over $15 million to Buffalo schools.
The Assembly is expected to work overnight on Thursday to pass the budget.
