A 24-year-old woman has been indicted on federal charges in connection with the deadly Christmas Eve ambush on first responders in Webster, NY. A federal grand jury issued a three-count indictment against Dawn Nguyen, who is accused of providing weapons to William Spengler, a convicted felon. Spengler opened fire, killing two volunteer firefighters and wounding two others, as first responders arrived at a fire at his home last Christmas Eve.
US Attorney William Hochul says Nguyen purchased the weapons in 2010, and later gave them to Spengler, who had served time for the murder of his grandmother.
"(Spengler) opened fire with the two firearms that the grand jury now says were provided by Nguyen," said Hochul.
The indictment charges Nguyen with knowingly making a false statement in connection with the purchase of a Bushmaster semiautomatic rifle and a shotgun from Gander Mountain.
Nguyen is expected to appear in Rochester federal court Monday for her arraignment.
