Hundreds rallied in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo Saturday in support of guns at a nationally-organized 'Gun Appreciation Day.' Most in attendance were vocal in opposition to the gun control legislation recently passed in New York State and to the proposals that are being considered in Washington.
J. J. Cherry from Amherst showed up wearing a Revolutionary War re-enactor outfit.
"Just showing my support for the second Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms," said Cherry. "There should be some controls, I agree with gun licensing and some of the laws on the books."
Buffalo businessman and former gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino also attended the rally.
Palladino told WBFO News he expects part of the governor's gun control law approved by the state legislature to be overturned in the courts.
"This is about arrogance, this is about vanity. This is about political aspirations of a governor who could care less about the people," said Paladino. This was about Cuomo's ego, that's all it was about. You're making it tougher on the good guys. Bad guys don't register their guns."
The rally in Buffalo was just one of many held across the country.
