Walkers honor woman killed on bike path

Family, friends and neighbors gathered on the Amherst Bike Path on Saturday, remembering a dynamic life that was cut short.

Eighty-one year old Sheila Pelton was killed last weekend when a motorcycle left a nearby road and crashed into a group of walkers on the Bike Path. Better than 100 people strolled the path in Pelton's honor. Pelton was a cancer survivor, and she was lauded for her efforts in easing the struggle for others. Also killed in the accident was 25-year-old Jocelyn Elberson.

Pelton's husband is recovering from his injuries.

It has been learned that the operator of the motorcycle, 53-year-old David Smith, has a lengthy DWI history spanning 3 states.
