New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has lent his support to the campaign of David Shenk in retaining his seat as Erie County Comptroller.
Shenk, a Democrat, is in a tight race against Republican candidate and former TV reporter Stefan Mychajliw. Shenk and Mychajliw differ on funding portions of County Executive Mark Poloncarz's proposed budget.
Shenk opposes the budget's property tax increase. Mychajliw claims that allowing the the county control board to do the county's borrowing would save money.
